Indu is a seasoned technologist and entrepreneur who has contributed to the success of a number of outstanding Silicon Valley companies including RightOn, Healtheon, Silicongraphics and Aquasoft.

As co-founder and president of RightOn, she led the team responsible for the creation of a Web- and wireless-based scheduling solution for the service industry. She was also a member of the original engineering team at Healtheon, creators of WebMD, where she oversaw the design and architecture of the healthcare infrastructure applications and was instrumental in using emerging technologies to achieve application scalability, reliability and performance.

She holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Bangalore University, India, and an M.S. in computer science from California State University, Chico.



Ms Anu Natarajan

Council Member Freemont, California

Mrs Anu Natarajan came to the United States on a Rotary International Scholarship for graduate Studies and earned a Masters degree in Urban Design and Planning from the University of Washington. Her professional experience includes working as an architect, public agency planner, and as an urban planning consultant.

Anu currently works with American Leadership Forum in Silicon Valley as the Program Director of Realizing the California Dream.

Anu serves on the Fremont City Council and has the distinction of being the first elected Indian-American councilmember in the Bay Area. Through a community-based planning process, she believes in creating well-designed, sustainable, and livable communities, which is essential to fostering economic growth.



Ms. Shobha Karandlaje
, MLA, Former Minister of Rural Development (Karnataka)

Shobha Karandlaje, Former Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj is a powerful name in Karnataka politics. Shobha got elected as MLA from Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru and assumed office as Minister Rural development, Panchayat Raj in the month of May 2008. Hailing from a middle class family, she achieved a significant position within BJP by her sheer hard work.

GaneshaSpeaks says Kum.Shobha Karandlaje has a chance to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka.




Ms. Gauri Rao

Registered Dietitian
Ms. Gauri Rao is a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association, and is based in Southern California. She has worked in the field of Maternal Child Health Program for the last 24 years.

Ms Rao is a Senior Manager and the Nutrition and Health Education Coordinator for a very large agency which provides services to over 325,825 people each month spread out over Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Ms. Rao participates on several Health Advisory Boards and Committees in the State of California. She has helped establish two very large community gardens for low income families in Southern California.




Ms Mangala Kumar
Business Executive and Community Service Activist

Mangala was born and raised in Bangalore, India. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University and migrated to the U.S. in 1980. She is a marketing and business development professional and has held senior management positions in various high-tech companies including Nortel, Siemens, Aspect Communications and Urban Media Communications. Mangala is currently involved in a couple of business ventures with family and friends, putting her skills to work developing business plans and raising venture capital.

Mangala is very passionate about community service and supports various charitable organizations in India and the USA. She founded and led a support group for battered Indian women in Boca Raton, Florida from 1990 to 1996. She served as Treasurer (1999) and Entertainment Secretary (2000) of Kannada Koota of Northern California (KKNC), and as Executive Director of Indo-American Community Service Center (2001) and Senior Director of Programs at India Community Center (2002-2004). She is an active volunteer of OSAAT (One Schools At a Time), helping rebuild underprivileged, rural schools in India. She is also a writer and has won awards four years in a row in the short story contest conducted by KKNC. She has published several short stories, critical reviews, skits and dramas online and in various publications in the USA and India, in both English and Kannada.

Dr. Bharathi Rathod
Vice President, SAHARA

Bharti Rathod is a retired physician and has offered her services to the community for several years. Bharti has been a SAHARA volunteer for the last seven years. Currently, she serves as the Board Vice President and supervises SAHARA’s Transitional Living Home.

South Asian Helpline and Referral Agency (SAHARA) provides a transitional home for healing and recovery. It helps mothers and children who are survivors of domestic violence in transitioning from crisis to independent living.

Services are offerred in 7 South Asian languages. Classes offered include: Accounting, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Corporate Training, Digital Photography, Podcasting, etc.



Dr. Manjunath Vadmal
Dermatologist

Dr Manjunath Vadmal is an Associate Professor of Dermatology  at LAC -USC  Medical Center and has been actively teaching Medical students since 1998. He serves as an Expert panel member for  LA COunty  Dept of Health Sciences and is on the editorial Board for Annals of clinical and laboratory Sciences  and Applied Immunohistochemistry.

Has been very active in research  and has published over 34 articles in various medical Journals.
Dr Vadmal was born in CHitradurga Grew up in Bangalore where he completed grade school . Graduated from Mysore Medical College in 1989. Has trained extensively in the fields of Pathology , Dermatopathology and Dermatology and holds Board certifications in all 3 specialities

Dr Vadmal lives in Northiridge with his wife and 2 children.



Dr. Shanthi Keshava
Psychiatrist

Dr Shanthi Keshava, currently works as a Psychiatric consultant at Pacific Clinics in Pomona CA.

She graduated from Bangalore University in 1973. After completing residency at VA, Sepulveda, CA,in 1978, has worked in various Hospitals and Universities as Staff Psychiatrist.

She has been an active member of the Karnataka Cultural Association in Los Angeles. Served as its President. She has entertained kannadigas with Dramas, both as director and as an actress.



Dr. Sudarshan,
Founder, VGKK
After becoming a doctor, he joined the charitable health institutions of Ramakrishna Mission which took him to the Himalayas of Uttar Pradesh, Belur Math in West Bengal and Ponnampet in Karnataka as part of the job. Instead of pursuing a medical practice in the cities, he decided to work with tribal communities and in 1980, he started the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra for the integrated development of the tribals in the Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. He is also the founder and Honorary Secretary of the Karuna Trust, which is dedicated to rural development in the states of Karnataka and Arunachal Pradesh. He claims inspiration from the man-making and nation-building ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He advocates Gandhian ideals for rural development.

Dr. Sudarshan has held many positions in his career, prominent among which are the chairmanship of the Task Force on Health and Family Welfare organised by Government of Karnataka, the Task Force on Public Private Partnership organised by National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) of Government of India and Institute of Health management & Research (IHMR), Bangalore. He was also associated as a member of Working Group 6 on Macro-economics & Health organised by the World Health Organization and was also a Steering Group member of the Planning Commission on the Empowerment of Scheduled Tribes in India's 11th Five Year Plan. He has also been the Vigilance Director for the Karnataka Lokayukta, an ombudsman organization. During his tenure, he adopted a method of regular visits and raids to several Government departments and earned critical acclaim for this
