NAVIKA is inviting all enthusiastic and talented people of all ages and from every state to participate in what we hope will be a truly memorable and exceptional convention. We are looking for fresh faces as well as seasoned veterans with new ideas. We welcome your participation in this fun-filled gala. For all the rules and regulations, please see the attached Rules & Regulations Sheet and/or visit us on the web at www.navika2010.org. The Cultural Committee will notify the selected participants. Program committee will notify the program schedule. We prefer to receive email inquires. | |

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CULTURAL PROGRAM:

NAVIKA WELCOMES THE PARTICIPATION FROM ALL KANNADIGAS TO TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN ITS FIRST KANNADA CONVENTION 2010 CULTURAL PROGRAM. OUR AIM IS TO BRING OUT THE RICH KARNATAKA AND KANNADA CULTURE AND HERITAGE TO A CREATIVE PRESENTATION WITH ALL ITS DIVERSITIES. TO ACHIVE THE SAME FOLLOWING ARE THE GUIDELINES | |
- It is mandatory that all participants, artists, choreographers and technicians are registered to NAVIKA conference.
- We prefer all items to be in Kannada.
- The participants are responsible for their costumes, props and other requirements for their presentations.
- The participating group will be in charge of setting up and clearing the stage after the performance.
- All Cultural Committee decisions are final.
- Tapes (Video and Audio) and Scripts will not be returned

Multiple stages will be established to accommodate all the selected participants for cultural programs. | |

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR DANCE |
|
Group performances, i.e., dances involving multiple cast members are encouraged. Performances by individuals are discouraged and will not be reviewed favorably.
All productions should be presented in Kannada OR the theme should be related to Karnataka in some way, be it Classical or Folk dance.
- Duration: 10 minutes maximum.

Materials Required for Submission: In addition to the Entry Form, the following must be submitted:
- Good video of the proposed dance, preferably in costume. If not available, video of a rehearsal may be submitted. (needn’t be professionally recorded, a home video will suffice)
- Artists’ profile

If available, reviews of proposed or past performances, media coverage, photographs etc are encouraged for submission.
All materials submitted, including the videotape will not be returned. | |

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR DRAMA |

CATEGORIES AND DURATION
| DRAMAS MAY BE SUBMITTED IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES | |
- COMEDY
- HISTORICAL
- MYTHOLOGY
- SOCIAL
- CONTEMPORARY
- MYSTERY
|
|
Group performances, i.e., dramas involving multiple cast members are encouraged. Performances by individuals (mono-acting) are discouraged and will not be reviewed favorably. |
|
Note: High caliber dramas will be given preference
- All dramas must be in Kannada.
- Drama entries by youth are also preferred in Kannada.
|
|
|
| However entries in English from youth members may be considered, provided the content is related to the conference theme of “Showcasing the Talents & Heritage of World Kannadigas”. Such entries are limited to a maximum of 30 minutes. Only one exceptional entry in this category may be selected for presentation. |
|
|
b) Duration: Stage performances are limited to a maximum of 1 hour. Plays with durations greater than one hour will only be considered for the parallel stage. Skits may not exceed durations of 30 minutes. Selection of dramas for the stage A versus stage B is at the discretion of the Cultural Committee and their decisions are final. |
|
| c) Materials Required for Submission: In addition to the Entry Form, the following must be submitted: |
|
- Good quality video of the proposed play, preferably in costume. If not available, video of a rehearsal may be submitted.
- Director’s profile
- Artists’ profile
|
|
|
Approximate Stage dimensions, extra Stage entry points and number of backdrops ( if any ) should be included. A Line sketch of the stage will be most welcome |
|
|
If available, reviews of proposed or past performances, media coverage, photographs etc are encouraged for submission
All materials submitted, including the videotape will not be returned. |

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MUSIC PROGRAM |
|
|
Folk Songs , Sugama Sangeetha, Classical Songs, Orchestra, Group Songs, Kannada film Songs and Vocal and Instrumental will be considered for convention |
|
- Classical music, Folk songs, Bhavageethe, Lavanees and film songs, all in Kannada (Vocal) and all instrumental music will be considered for the convention
- Group singing is encouraged
- Individual performance (vocal/instrumental) is limited to 6 minutes
- Duration for a group of 2 to 6 persons is limited to 10 minutes
- Duration for a group of 6 or more is limited to 15 minutes
- Only Kannada songs are entertained
- Accompaniments are not provided by the committee, but groups can bring their own accompaniments if they wish.

Materials Required for Submission: In addition to the Entry Form, the following must be submitted: |

- Good quality audio tape or a CD of the proposed songs. If not available, audio of a rehearsal may be submitted. (needn’t be professionally recorded, a home recording will suffice)
- Artists’ profile. Indicate the number of years of professional training you have had (if none, say zero) and the name of the teacher
